Description
1595 Bishops Bible
The Church of England acknowledged the scholarly value of the Geneva Bible, but its critical notes on both the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church led to the decision for a revision. Under the leadership of Matthew Parker, Archbishop of Canterbury, the Great Bible was updated to create the Bishop’s Bible. The scripture was divided into sections, each reviewed and revised by a group of scholars, most of whom were bishops, resulting in a more church-friendly translation.
